Itinerary
We will meet at our office or we can pick you up from your accommodation in our vehicle. The guide will give you instructions on the way to our first stop at the top of the Saqsayhuaman archaeological site. We will pass by the archaeological sites of Sacsayhuaman, Balcon del Diablo, and Palacio de Manco Capac (we will make short stops to appreciate the archaeological sites a little more).
The village called “Sector Salkantay” is located at 3,950 meters above sea level and will be our starting point on two wheels. Here, our guide will give us a brief safety talk and provide us with safety equipment. We will travel along a road formerly used by local farmers to transport their products, such as potato, beans and olluco. The place is ideal for learning and connecting with the land.
As we travel along the trail, we will see agricultural areas, houses still made of mud, and sections of eucalyptus trees and native trees such as Queuña, Molle, and Chachacomo. The temperature at this altitude is cool on sunny days and on cloudy days, it is a little cold (approx. 10°).
At a certain point along the route, we will arrive at an archaeological site called Balcón del Diablo (Devil's Balcony) where, depending on the weather, we can take a walk around the surrounding area. We will follow the path downhill, leading us to the archaeological site of Saqsayhuaman. After discussing this impressive place, we will continue on our way to the Palace of Manco Capac, known as the San Cristóbal viewpoint.
